Seaside Adventures in Scotland

I love everything about a trip to the seaside.  Whether it’s the sound of the waves lapping off the shore, or the salty fresh sea air blasting in your face, Scotland has lots of stunning beaches and I must say I’ve been to quite a few of them.

Growing up on the outskirts of Aberdeen, one of my favourite things to do at the weekend was to head to the beach and brave the icy cold waters of the North Sea as I strolled bear footed across the sand, whippy in hand of course.  When the tide was out it was great fun exploring the nooks and crannies of the exposed rockpools hoping to find a colourful starfish or a wee crab hiding behind a rock.  And of course don’t forget shell hunting - finding the biggest, most shiny shell on the beach was like finding treasure as a child.  Balmedie Beach, just north of Aberdeen, was a favourite of mine with golden sands stretching for miles and huge sand dunes that were always quite fun to jump off of.

So what is your favourite beach to explore?  I’d love to hear about all your seaside adventures. 😊

I have to give Burnt Island a wee shout out! Every time I've been we've had amazing weather and the water is so crystal clear!

Helensburgh Beach backed by a promenade provides an amazing view and makes it my favourite beach ever. I really admire its view, especially the marvelous sunset scene. I also enjoy the windsurfing and boat trips here when I visit this place with my family.

After enjoying various beach activities, Riva Restaurant ( is one of my best places to enjoy Italian food in Helensburgh. It is an excellent restaurant with a good environment and delicious food.
