Fort William to UK

Hi we will be spending a self drive week in Scotland in July finishing in Fort William. Our next stop is York. We were hoping to ditch the car in Fort William and train to York. Any suggestions- would prefer a night/sleeper journey. Travelling with kids. Thank you.

Hi @ALC, doubt you will get a direct sleeper to York, unfortunately. The best alternative I can offer is taking the Caledonian Sleeper to Preston departing in the evening which will get to you to Preston at 4:32 AM. Knowing the sleeper, you may be a bit late which is a good transition to the 5:10 AM departure to Manchester and then changing to the 6:01 to York from Manchester Oxford road.

Hope this helps. Do book ahead, especially on the sleeper, for the best fares. Also do break up the ticket buying into Fort William - Preston and Preston to Manchester and consider getting a Family and Friends railcard if you don't have one. It will save you money overall just through this journey from FTW - YRK, I guarantee it
