Hi,
My wife and I will be visiting Scotland in September for two weeks and will be bringing our unlocked cell phones. We will be spending a few days in Edinburgh first and then traveling to the Glencoe area, Isle of Skye, and finally Lewis and Harris. I realize that not all cell companies provide good service in all areas, so we were thinking about getting SIM Cards from two different companies and have one in each phone.
So, my first question is, considering the locations we are traveling to, I know there will be no service in some areas. However, which two cell company’s SIM cards would you recommend getting to provide the best likelihood of having service?
My last question is, where would you recommend buying the prepaid SIMs? Some appear to be available on Amazon here in the U.S but we could also pick them up from shops in Edinburgh when we arrive.
Thanks for your advice.
John

I have been with EE for a long time and since moving to Scotland have travelled all over the country. I rarely lose service compared to friends who are with Vodaphone.
There are shops in Edinburgh that you could purchase your SIM cards from and they may be cheaper.
