A piper’s must see?

My daughter plays the highland bagpipes & we are planning on visiting Scotland, what are some “must see” places for her?
are there any bagpipe museums?
major events that we may want to schedule our trip around?
shopping centers or stores  for pipers?

    Hi @Sugar_glider1

What a wonderful skill and talent to be able to play the bagpipes! If you are coming in the summer months, this is the best time to see pipers outside doing what they do best.

Throughout the summer there are various piping events and competitions. If you get a chance to attend, you will experience the full effect of a pipe band. Glasgow is the place to be in August with Piping Live! and The World Pipe Band Championships. Glasgow also has a museum of piping, run by the National Piping Centre (there is also a shop and a hotel).

If not Glasgow, try browsing the calendar of events for the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association. Follow them on Twitter to get lots of info.

From May to September, you can attend Highland Games events all around Scotland which will typically have bagpipers or pipe bands playing. Check out the calendar at Scottish Highland Games Association.

I'm sure you will find something that suits your location and itinerary - if not we can come up with plenty of ideas.  ;)
