Would you love to be able bring your furry friend along when out for a drink in a Scottish pub and know they will be welcome?

There are plenty of dog-friendly pubs around Scotland to choose from but which one to choose? The dog-sitting website DogBuddy has announced the winners of their annual Dog Friendly Pub Awards, a celebration of the UK's most dog-friendly pubs. The results are in and here are the Scottish top ten dog-friendly pubs as voted for by the dog loving community:

1. The Weston Tavern (Kilmarnock)

2. Sorn Inn (Mauchline)

3. The Tickled Trout (Glasgow)

4. Slanj Loch Lomond (Arrochar)

5. Queen Vic (Aberdeen)

6. Inn Deep (Glasgow)

7. Hector's (Edinburgh)

8. Town Arms (Selkirk)

9. The Clachnaharry Inn (Inverness)

10. The Kirkstyle Inn (Perth)

Do you have a favourite dog-friendly pub or does your dog have a favourite watering hole?

I was so happy when I moved here to discover how welcomed dogs are in pubs and how so many will offer a water bowl, a treat or a bed for them! We often end up at Lioness of Leith after work and there are always plenty of dogs there which is nice!

  • @VisitScotlandAmanda Nobles on Leith is dog friendly too. The food there is always amazing and they have a large portrait of Bjork on the wall that I keep trying to liberate. 🙂

The Benleva in Drumnadrochit is another dog friendly place near Inverness. More than once I’ve been handed the lead of a dog to look after while the owner nips out for a cigarette!

WestRoom, The Beer Kitchen and The Refinery are our favourite dog friendly pubs for food in Edinburgh.  I also love Jingin’ Geordie’s for drinks, as it has bags of old Edinburgh character and it’s nice to see some traditional pubs surviving.

    elsewhere in Scotland we love:

Macgochans in Tobermory, Isle of Mull

The Lochmaddy Hotel bar in North Uist

The Cock & Bull Inn, Balmedie

    The George Hotel bar, Inveraray

    The Crown Hotel bar, Portpatrick

Travelling with a dog has never hampered our enjoyment of Scotland.  It’s a wonderfully dog friendly place to live.
