Plans for senior couple to visit Edinburgh??
Active senior couple looking to spend about 3-4 days in Edinburgh after a
week + in London this April. Prefer boutique hotels or quality BnBs in
"local" neighborhoods where we can walk to local places for dinner.
Assume we can walk, Uber/Taxi, or bus to touristy stuff during the day.
In addition, we think we should include a 1 day trip to Highlands.
Looking at neighborhoods, it seems Stockbridge, Dean Village,, or West
End appear to be our type. Does this seem correct and if so, can you
suggest smallish hotels. Budget around $200.
Thoughts, please, and THANKS!

The bus system is fantastic in Edinburgh so even though it's walking distance to town you can easily jump on a bus if you're looking to go further afield or just not in the mood to walk up the hill

Hope this helps!
Both Amanda and Liam have successfully highlighted that the bus system is excellent and that the city is fairly concentrated. The £4 day ticket on the local bus service goes a long way in location sightseeing. Here is a wee post I wrote including some bus details describe public transport based sightseeing in Edinburgh. Uber also works great.
Do not hesitate to ask any further questions. I hope you enjoy your visit.
