Best places to visit when coming from Ireland by ferry?

Thoughts please! What would you suggest to anyone travelling from Ireland if visiting Scotland for a few days by ferry?

I've found that Stena Line have itineraries with really cool ideas for things to do in Ayrshire, Dumfries & Galloway, Scottish Borders, Glasgow and the Lothians at www.stenaline.co.uk/ferries-to-britain/inspireme,  but what else should be added to the must-see-and-do list?
