HomeAway website for self catering on Isle of Skye.
Hi lovely people!
Does anyone here has any experience of booking cottages trough homeaway.co.uk website? We are trying to find accommodation for 6 nights in May on Isle of Skye, and we tried to use airbnb - but no one is ever even replying to our booking requests and website just cancels our payments after 24hrs and all major well known websites are sold out for Skye (at least places we could afford to rent).
After more research we came across homeaway.co.uk, where we found lots of nice looking cottages, but the website itself has quite bad reviews from users - people mainly complain on lack of help from them in case of cancellations or if property in the real life is not as described on the website. Just wondering if someone here has any experience with them?
Or maybe someone knows where we could find nice place to stay for 6 nights (20.05.18-26.05.18), two non-smoking adults (couple), close-ish to civilization (village shop, pub, petrol station, town within 10-20 mins drive), not too far North (we will be travelling from Cambridgeshire), with kitchen, bathroom, comfortable bed and possibly washing machine and tumble dryer. Costing no more than £650 for the whole stay.
Thank you in advance for any help.
Ela

FYI, Most self catered lets do 7 days, so 6 days makes it tough.
For a starters if you could expand it to 7 days that could double your options.
Also how set in stone is your travel dates, and/or are you open to any other destinations? Also are you coming in via the bridge, or the ferry from Mallaig?
I found some stuff on Tripadvisor that fit your price-point, but one was 17 miles north of Portree, and the other one may not be a full cottage.
The only resource that has helped me in a similar situation was picking up the phone and calling B&B numbers listen in RoomFinder, a website with a decent B&B contact info collection. Alternatively, consider booking stay at Kyle or Dornie. Have you checked near Broadford and Uig? (most people just focus on Portree, I have stayed near the other two and it's not shabby at all facilities wise, especially the brewery at Uig and the chippy at Broadford)
