Things to do Banffshire

We are up to Banff for a week in October. We have an 11 yr old daughter and a dog. My primary aim is to visit Pennan the location for my all time favourite film. However what else can we fill our week with, any ideas welcome as we don't know the east coast having always visited the west?

Hi @Local_Her0. Cullen is another lovely little coastal village nearby which is well worth visiting. There are lots of lovely walks there and a beautiful sandy beach! I would also suggest you have a look on Walkhighlands, this will give you lots of suggestions for walks in the Banff/Buchan area, including the lovely Spey Bay by Buckie.

    I hope this helps.  :)

Your daughter may like MacDuff Aquarium, it is full of local sea life. There is also Duff House nearby, part of the National Galleries of Scotland. Family history demands that I mention Gardenstown among the small fishing villages but be careful, locally we know it as "Gamrie". If you travel a little further into Buchan there is a wonderful museum in Fraserburgh, the Scottish Lighthouse Museum based around the oldest publicly funded lighthouse in Scotland. And the other way, technically into Moray but tying in to your coastal visits, there is the Scottish Dolphin Centre at Spey Bay.
