@bac. @fishypro is spot on, the chips are great and they do really nice mashed peas which are good to dip your chips into. The view from just above the harbour is great! There are a couple of nice pubs which do local beers in the harbour and are worth checking out

It has a nice beach . It also has an outdoor Swimming pool that is open in the summer season. The ruined Dunnottar Castle lies 2 miles south of Stonehaven which is worth a visit as there's lovely views over the North Sea. Further down the coast is the RSPB Fowlsheugh bird sanctuary.
On hogmanay Stonehaven hosts the famous Fireballs Ceremony.
