Getting around Skye

We will be visiting Skye in early May.  I've read that public transport is iffy.  Any recommendations?  I wondered about renting a car, but was intimidated by what I read about driving there, especially since we drive on the other side!  We will be staying in Portree.  Thanks for your help!

Hi @Padrecita, Citylink & Stagecoach run the bus routes around Skye. Stagecoach even has open top buses that depart from Portree everyday apart from Wednesdays. Jans is the care hire company in Portree.
The roads are not as bad as I expected them to be. The only roads that are poor are the road to the Fairypools. and anything on the otherside of Dunvegan. Otherwise they are normal roads.
    Best regards
