Hi, im visiting Scotland form the 10 September till the 15th October and would like to try Salmon fishing.  Is this possible at this time of year? Any suggestions would be appreciated. :)

Hi @bronny. Yes, indeed Salmon Fishing is possible at this time of the year. The season varies depending on which river you fish; anywhere from January until late Autumn. This Fishing in Scotland website will provide you with information on dates and locations of various rivers.

Many anglers are drawn to fishing on the world renowned River Dee in Royal Deeside; it is located within the heart of the beautiful Cairngorm National Park. Have a look at the Fish Dee website; you will find it very helpful.

Please bear in mind that many rivers in Scotland operate a mandatory catch and release policy to conserve stocks, especially in Special Areas of Conservation.

    Happy Fishing!  :)

  • I will be visiting Scotland at the end of May. Do any places allow you to keep the salmon caught?
