Dugswelcome is a good site and I've used it a few times to find some new locations in & around Glasgow.
If only Scotland could be more like France and allow our little furry friends into most locations without any issues. Bobby has enjoyed many a baguette from the local patisserie, pasta from a little italian restaurant and enjoyed a pint of *cough* water from the local pub where my dad lives in Paris.

I really think it would be useful if there was an official dog friendly scheme in Scotland that would encourage businesses to join and display a sticker saying that dogs are welcome and offer basics like a water bowl and a treat. I find myself having to ask at so many places if they allow dogs and some sort of welcome scheme would be a great tourism asset.
I've blogged about a few dog friendly stays and I found The Four Seasons Hotel in St Fillans to be genuinely dog friendly although must try some of the other suggestions here.
In Glasgow we often head to West Brewery for food as there are no restrictions on where you can sit and treats/water are available, and you can enjoy a walk around Glasgow Green.
SYHA have a few hostels now with dog friendly rooms, ideal for an affordable walking break. I loved our room with a view in Lochranza and we have also stayed in dog friendly rooms in Glencoe and Torridon.
I also went on the Forth Boat Tour and Willow loved it as much as the humans. Highland Games can make a great dog friendly day out too.
Of course if you want your dog to take you out for the day then The Dug Cafe in Loch Lomond Shores is a must, dogs definitely rule in this place!

SYHA do charge a £5 supplement for dogs but still works out pretty cheap for a night away and in every hostel I've stayed dogs have been allowed in the quiet sitting rooms (although not the main lounges) so you aren't stuck in your room.
Looking forward to getting more ideas on new places to visit

Hi all! I have a wee pup called Reilly - only got him 4 weeks ago. We've had lots of adventures in Holyrood Park (I'm based in Edinburgh) but would be good to know of other fun walks and also bars and cafes that are dog friendly. I find the dog friendly sites that exist quite unwieldy to use and sometimes info is out of date. So any advice from anyone for Edinburgh and beyond would be fab!
Just like to ask if the ferries between the islands of Orkney allow dogs on board as we are going to Mainland Orkney next year with our Patterdale and intend exploring the outer isles.
Would like to say P+O ferries from N.I to Cairn Ryan are excellent. The dog was left in car but we were escorted down to car deck as often as we needed and the guys on car deck also kept a lookout, very impressed.
Re choosing dog friendly accommodation - it's a bit hit and miss sometimes as to whether a place is truly dog friendly or just dog tolerant. We were hoping to visit the Isle of Coll sometime, however I was rather surprised to find that the Isle of Coll Hotel is completely dog intolerant and advised us that if we wanted to, we could leave our dogs in the car outside the hotel - I think not! To overcome such difficulties, we always just book a dog friendly holiday let - that way, our dogs have a proper home away from home.
