A village called Fort Augustus
Village of around 670 inhabitants is a must for tourists. It is on the Caledonian canal where small, medium and large boats are passing through to reach either the North Sea or the Atlantic. Hundreds of boats are passing during the high season, and, during Winter some visitors from Russia or China are coming to watch the five locks (denivelation of 12.9 meters). The village has various shops and a lot of B&Bs and two hotels plus luxurious apartments located at the former Abbey.
