Visiting Scotland end of November

Hi. We are a couple of friends visiting Scotland around 20th November. How is that time of the year to visit the highlands, especially Isle of Skye and Glencoe? Is a self-driven car a good option in that weather? Or should we take a bus coach?

You will need to give us a wee bit more information. Where are you visiting from? Are you comfortable driving on the left hand side of the road? Are you familiar with a stick shift vehicle? As to the weather...take your pick! The weather probably won't be great but the mist and the rain just adds to the majesty of the landscape and gives it a magical quality and the sight of water cascading down the mountainside is lovely. Remember the daylight will be considerably shorter that in the summer months so plan your time accordingly as there is no pleasure driving in the dark on unfamiliar roads! At that time of year a bus tour can be a good option - let the more experienced driver worry about the weather and you and your friend can just sit back and admire the view.

It is easy to rent an automatic if you get it from an airport.
