help with route plan please!

we have almost 3 weeks in Scotland in September and will be visiting family in the Galloway area for a few days. Our plan goes something like this:
arrive Edinburgh early morning and drive to Inverness for 3/4 days -this looks like a good base- then work our way down to family and then drive back to Edinburgh for three days. We are hiring car , hiking is out as one of us has poor mobility at the moment but we can do strolling. Places we would like to see/stay are Skye, mull, glencoe. We need to get a move on as have not booked any accommodation yet! Does the above itinerary look reasonable? Thanks for any help and advice.

Great suggestions @willmackenzie I'd also suggest stopping off at Aviemore on the way back from Inverness and trying some watersports on Loch Morlich before heading to the top of the Cairngorm Mountain either by railway or walking, the views are breathtaking.

Wow. Thanks everyone for your fabulous ideas. Am having a rethink as a slight change of plan, we are now in Inverness for 3 or 4 days but I think we can plot a route. Many many thanks to all x
