Weather in September?

I'll be in Edinburgh, Inverness, Glencoe and Glasgow the first two weeks of September.  So I know what to pack, what kind of temperatures are typical for day time highs this time of year?  Thanks!

Hi @KarenG530 September is an interesting one and I'm sure you'll get lots of different answers - if I remember right, the last few years it's been a really nice month, with sunshine and the chance to make the most of the last weeks of summer!

But average temperatures are more like 10⁰C to  15⁰C - if it's a good year, it'll go a few degrees higher. Sounds like a great trip though - hope you have an amazing time!

Hi @KarenG530! We can be lucky here in September with ok-ish temperatures (depends what you class as ok...) but I would definitely go for lots of layers, so you can adapt depending on the temperature - including a thin waterproof jacket for any rain showers. Hope you have an amazing trip!

  • We've been in the highlands the last two years in early September and the weather has been glorious - 20c +. I just hope our run of luck continues this year too !
  • we will be there from the 16th to the 22 of September and then off to Iceland to spend our kids Inheritance.  We are already looking for waterproof walking pants and good waterproof jackets with  liners that we can remove.  So looking forward to this trip and I have a hard time understanding why more people are not more excited about going to Scotland.  Everyone lights up when we say Iceland but we get "oh, Scotland..." Weird.  We will make the most of it and will have a fantastic time.
