Two week roadtrip

We are two girls from The Netherlands who will be setting out on their first adventure in Scotland during a holiday in May. We've started planning and drawing out a route we will be driving with our car. We will start our journey in New Castle and take the first highway to Edinburgh (of course visit Alnwick castle on the way there). After that we'll go up to Inverness and the Highlands and end that route in Isle of Skye. We'll take the route down to Fort Williams and after that Glasgow, where we will end our journey.

Aside the popular sights as Alnwick castle, Loch Ness and Glenfinnan Viaduct, we really wish to find hidden gems on our route, especially in the highlands. So that's why we came here in the hope you could share your experience to make our journey even more unforgettable.
We are big Harry Potter and overal Fantasy fan. So the sights we hope to see are those that takes you into a fairytale. Other than that we are big animal lovers, so anything animal related is welcome. We also would like to know the best places (pubs or something) to meet lots of "fellow youngsters" :P. People to connect with.

Thank you so much in advance for reading this!

I've been exploring the north east coast from Inverness up to Caithness and Sutherland. I've started to map my drive videos and other research/discoveries on this Google map, if you're curious to see what it's like :) https://drive.google.com/open?id=1gYAKrEHBGRO6TT9lxeOX_sY7bE3gLcT_&usp=sharing
