Euro 2020

Hi fellow football fans!

So excited for the Euros to come to Hampden. Fingers crossed Scotland qualify.

I was just looking at booking my match tickets and wondered if anyone had any advice on travel/places to eat/accommodation etc and exploring Glasgow around the games?

Thanks in advance!

I have been to many a Scotland game at Hampden Park and my recommendation would be to hop on a train at Glasgow Central and head for Mount Florida station. Trains are every 10 minutes and the journey only takes 10 minutes to get there. From there, I would suggest visiting a cracking wee microbrewery called Clockwork Beer Company en route to Hampden which is only a few minutes away!

I also read a great article recently in the Scotsman, with the top bars near Hampden Park, in case you want to do a wee pub crawl after the game (score permitting!)

Hey @ecosse206, I'd definitely recommend booking your accommodation in advance, due to the amount of fans that will be in Glasgow around competition time! The VisitScotland page have some great suggestions and different types of accommodation https://www.visitscotland.com/destinations-maps/glasgow/accommodation/

Regarding the best way to get around Glasgow, I would say by The Subway, I'd recommend downloading the "Traveline Scotland" app, it will give you timetables and journeys for all bus, rail, coach (and more) services in Scotland! I got all this info from https://peoplemakeglasgow.com/visiting/getting-around great wee page for getting around Glasgow! 👍

On places to eat...The choice in Glasgow is mind-blowing! Any cuisine, Glasgow probably has it! I read an article the other week there of the best restaurants in Glasgow - I've already been to a few, but Six by Nico and The Ubiquitous Chip in the West End, although quite pricey, is brilliant! (no. 5 & 8 on the list) https://www.timeout.com/glasgow/restaurants/best-restaurants-in-glasgow

Shout out to Tennent's Brewery Tour as well, they have a fantastic new visitor centre and I'm looking forward to visit again! http://www.tennentstours.com/tennents-tour

Hope this helps! Happy planning :)

Well you would manage some good stadium tours round Hampden, Parkhead and Ibrox stadium to keep a good Football theme throughout your trip. All the pubs near the ground have good Scottish memorabilia etc. to keep a football theme throughout the visit.

Getting there is easiest via Glasgow Central and the stop is Mount Florida. Do keep in mind that due to the event taking place and the many other events being held in Glasgow it will be a very busy period for the City!
