Travelling with kids

Hi. I’m planning on seeing the west coast flying in to Glasgow with my children for a week end of
May. We would like to see as much as possible but we’re not that keen on getting different accommodation every night. Can you recommend anywhere we can stay for the week that we can do day trips from? The only must have on the list so far is the Jacobite train.

Hello @Junglequeen! Sounds like a fun trip :)

Will you be hiring a car for ease of getting around?

If that's the case then you could consider staying in Oban. From Oban it's around a 1 hour drive to where you will catch the Jacobite Train in Fort William, one hour to Inveraray (a lovely wee town with a castle you may recognise from Downton Abbey if you watched their Christmas special), 1 hour 40 mins to Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, and if you wanted to go across to the Isle of Mull this is easy done from Oban too.

Also, as well as being a reasonably handy base for you, Oban is lovely in itself!

^ Tobermory, the capital of Mull

    ^ Loch Lomond

I hope this helps - let me know what you think?
