Itinerary suggestions for the Hebrides
My boyfriend and I are frequent visitors to Edinburgh as we have friends there, but are ashamed to say that Stirling is the furthest we have managed to travel! This year we are planning a two week tour of Scotland and would like to spend a chunk of that - 7 days ish - exploring the Inner and Outer Hebrides. I have been trawling the internet for ideas, but there is almost too much information. We are driving up from England so will have our car and the CalMac island hopper tickets seem ideal - I could just use some advice of a good route with a rough idea of how much time you need to spend in each place. Any suggestions would be most welcome!

With that out of the way, the easiest route to recommend is Glasgow - Skye (1-2 nights) - Harris (Tarbert, stay there for 2-3 nights and also explore Lewis) - the Uists (stay another 2 nights) - Oban - Glasgow. This is roughly based on Hopscotch 8 but includes Skye. Fitting anything more into a 7 day itinerary would have you depend on the longer but infrequent ferries such as Islay - Oban. I have visited a mix of Isles whose writeups you can read up from my signature below which contain my long list of recommendations (in the desktop version). I have not visited the Uists sadly and only a whistle stop hike at Rhum. This VisitScotland itinerary is another great resource on what to see and do in the Outer Hebrides.
Top tip: If you like gin, have a taste of the Isle of Harris Gin and bring back as many bottles as you can back to England as you please. The taste is out of this world and it is near impossible to find it with the abundance with which one can buy it in the distillery. The beautiful bottling helps make some delightful home accessories after the gin is finished which is an added advantage.
