Red Kites at Ardgaty

What a brilliant place to visit even on a driech day.  You could hear the call of the kites from the car park - an eerie screech - and as we walked up the path to the hide one or two were visible flying overhead.  Once extinct, these beautiful creatures are now thriving thanks to Ardgaty and the work of the volunteers.   At feeding time, a bucket of leftovers from the local game dealer was dropped in the field in front of the hide and we waited.....and waited....then a young bird tentatively swooped down and made off with a tasty morsel. A minute or two later more and more kites appeared to join in the feed along with some crows who weren't going to miss out on a free lunch.

Just brilliant!!
