Booking accommodation in advance?

Hi! We want to come to Scotland 22/7 - 6/8 and really prefer to travel without having to book accommodation in advance. Skye is on our list and I know we will have to book in advance there, but what about the other regions? Do we need to book in advance? Thanks for the advice!

    Hello @Ceetje

At this time of year it is recommended to book in advance to avoid disappointment. This is especially true for Isle of Skye and Edinburgh (Edinburgh hosts the biggest arts festival in the world during August). If you are planning to visit the more isolated parts of Scotland it is advisable to book in advance to have the best choice.

To search for available accommodation listed with VisitScotland, please go to our accommodation guide or use the ‘search for’ tool at the top of any page and choose ‘accommodation’ from the drop-down list. You can enter the details of location, number of people, dates and it will display listings of available options. If there is a star rating next to the property, it means it is quality-assured by VisitScotland. You can refine the search using the filters on the left side of the page.

You might also wish to try www.isleofskyeaccommodation.com  which provides a list of last-minute availability.

Good luck with your search and enjoy your adventure!
