B&B availability with short notice during July

We are considering to visit Scotland from around July 20th and a week.
We are a family of 5 adults.

How is it to try to get two hotel rooms or B&B with short notice (later the same day) driving around in the Scottish countryside?
Is that to be considered easy, hard or maybe even impossible?

It might depend on where exactly you are planning to visit.  Edinburgh, Skye and the west coast can be extremely busy at this time of year so I would suggest planning an itinerary and booking accommodation along your route ahead of time, especially because of the size of your party.  Accommodation for 5 adults isn't quite so straightforward as for just one couple, say.  If you can be flexible and are happy stay in B&Bs in more remote locations rather than in/close to  towns and villages you will have greater choice.  It does take away some of the spontaneity of a trip, but better that than being stuck with nowhere to stay! Please look at our VisitScotland accommodation planner and pop in to our Information Centres (details can be found on our site)  during your trip to get lots of detailed information about each area.  We look forward to seeing you in July!
